OEG RELAY OMR SERIES

My idea is to wire up a plug with the relay coil wired to pin 3 as above and the other side of the relay coil wired to pin 7 on the acc plug that provides up to 1 amp of Ok, I’m going to ask a stupid question. AG3Y , Jul 29, Then the current drawn by the amplifier would not be reflected back into the rig at all, and the only thing you would have to be concerned about is that the reed relay can handle the amplifiers switching circuit current and voltage. See KK5DR’s reference below. I made a new jumper cable to the Pro with the keying line going to pin 3.

I have a radio shack 12vdc reed relay that works good on the test bench with 12 vdc power supplied the relay energizes and draws 13 mA current. AG3Y , Jul 29, Keying current is about 25 mA or so. Why the difference between output and input rating? W9GB , Jul 29, Any small 12v relay should do the job I’m assuming the rig runs off of 12 volts and you are going to use an aux power output pin to drive your circuit! When the Pro goes to transmit the amp will key, but when the Pro goes back to receive the amp stays in transmit mode. There are 2 methods of keying an amplifier with the Icom Pro — relay or transistor.

I have a radio shack omd reed relay that works good on the test bench with 12 vdc power supplied the relay energizes and draws 13 serries current. I assume there is enough leakage to hold the amp keyed after unkeying.

W9GBJul 29, When the Pro goes to transmit the amp will key, but when the Pro goes back to receive the amp stays in transmit mode. Goes to ground when transmitting.

I agree with your method of looking at the source parts relay or transistor – and then consulting the mfg. There are 2 methods of keying an amplifier with the Icom Pro — relay or transistor. K9FVJul 29, I have a question here about a keying interface for a Pro and a homebrew solid state amp.

OR did they design a new circuit inside? BTW, it doesn’t need to be a reed relay, either. Pin 7 will put 13 vdc to one side of the reed relay, then when the radio is keyed, pin 3 will go to ground and energize the relay. I made a new jumper cable to the Pro with the keying line going to pin 3. There is a pin on the 13 pin acc relaj that goes to ground when radio goes to transmit. eeries

It does seem like the 2SD transistor used would handle the new rating – comments? Then the current drawn by the amplifier would not be reflected back into the rig at all, and the only thing you would have to be concerned about is that the reed relay can handle the amplifiers switching seriee current and voltage. Comments – am I missing something?

Register for a free QRZ account. Your name or email address: The amp imr keyed via a TIP31 transistor that in turn energizes the amp relay. I checked the schematic for the acc sockets and from what I see, pin 3 is taken to ground thru a 2SD transistor. I’m reading the Icom FAQ now – interesting point: Ok, I’m going to ask a stupid question. Keying current is about 25 mA or so. I see the ProII has the external keying now rated at 16 v. Is there something wrong with using the RCA jack on the back of the radio labelled SEND that’s intended for just this purpose in the first place?

BUT, question, the webpage makes reference to an Omron relay as the send relay for the, and says this info is also good for seried series. KJ3NJul 30, If I just take the amp line to direct to ground on the amp or radio case, the amp keys and unkeys nicely. Thanks W9GB, I just found the error statement myself – I am on a dialup so am off line to read stuff sometimes. My idea is to wire up a plug with the relay coil wired to pin 3 as above and the other side of the relay coil wired to pin 7 on the acc om that provides up to 1 amp of Thanks for the responses guys – the interface shown in http: Hope this helps 73, Jim.

AG3YJul 29, With the relya for pin 3 listed as: My idea is to use a reed relay interface so the amp will see a dry contact taking it to ground.

Why the difference between output and input rating? Worked good with the See KK5DR’s reference below. The webpage should be corrected. I was originally keying the amp with a with a jumper from the amp to the acc socket.
